J65 At Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore launches fresh new themed nights promotion at the all-day dining restaurant. There are two new themes this time, Tuesday Asian Seafood and Thursday What the Fish Buffet dinner in addition to the all-time favourites, Monday International Seafood, Wednesday Lobster Rock ‘n’ Roll and Friday to Sunday Seafood Madness. This was a similar themed promotion which did in 2016, J65 Eat Through The Week.
Mixed Seafood in Spicy Coconut Broth – it comes with prawn, mussels and crabs, the fragrance and texture of the sauce, with that hit of spice at the end, make this dish memorable.
Seafood Paella – It reminds me about my 3 months short assignment in Switzerland a couple of years ago. One of colleagues who invited us to her house and she cooked very nice paella according to her Spanish mother-in-law’s recipe. Since then, I fell in love with this Valencian rice dish.
There are four major types of paella, Valencian paella, vegetable paella, seafood paella and mixed paella. Seafood paella replaces meat with seafood and omits beans and green vegetables. The mixed seafood worked into the rice, giving texture to each bite.
You will get very fresh prawns and crabs from their seafood bar. The crab meat are sweet.
Stir-fry Sotong with green pepper – this is another memorable dish. I like the flavours come from the oyster sauce, sesame oil and fish sauce – it was strong and may overwhelm the other dishes, but you must try this to get the real Asian flavour.
The international buffet also offer a variety of Western food. When it is German food, you must have Pork Knuckle. The meat are tender and juicy, skin are crispy. The best part is the under-layer of the skin which gives you a bit chewy texture.
The Japanese corner gives you a wide range of Sushi and Sashimi. Both are fresh and delicious.
When it comes to desserts, J65 has a pretty good dessert line-up. Such as Apple Pie, Pandan Cake, Chocolate Puffs and Strawberry Swiss Rolls.
My favorite dessert is quietly sitting in a corner – Durian Pengat. It is so creamy and gives you strong and authentic Durian flavor . Even though I was full from my dinner, I was tempted to have 3 bowls of it. Cannot resist it!
