We previously visited PORTA Fine Food & Import Company and enjoyed. Recently, Executive Chef Alex Phan came up with PORTA’s refreshed a la carte menu which provides worldly interpretations of modern European gastronomic delights.
PORTA’s Refreshed A La Carte Menu
Avocado Toast ($16++) – Walnut toast, sliced avocado, confit tomatoes and balsamic reduction topped off with chia seeds. It looks so simple, just sliced avocado on top of a piece of toast, but when you take a bite, you will realize that it is so much more than that.
Apple Bacon Pancake ($16++) – Pancake with apple, spices, bacon and maple syrup. Have you tried this before? If you like apple pancake and you like bacon also, you will love the taste of these sweet and smoky pancake. A quick maple syrup drizzled on top of the pancake enhances the flavor.
Sweet Potato & Kale ($14++) – Roasted sweet potato, kale, tahini and walnuts, I would say that it makes a great side dish for any meal.
Tuna Tartare ($18++) – Marinated with shallots, herbs, soy dressing and daikon salad, it showcases Chef Alex’s culinary repertoire in marrying modern European dishes with Asian-inspired flavours.
Charred Prawn ($16++) – Charred prawn served with summer leaves, dill and Marie Rose sauce. The prawns are so juicy and it goes very well with the Marie Rose sauce which increases your appetite.
Wild Mushroom Orecchiette ($22++) – Sauteed seasonal wild mushroom, orecchiette pasta with cream sauce and herbs. Orecchiette are a variety of pasta typical of Apulia, a region of southern Italy. Their name comes from their shape, which resembles a small ear. This is the one of the most delicious pastas I’ve ever had. I realized that the beauty of Italian cuisine is that just a few simple ingredients, when combined together, can produce absolutely delicious results.
Norwegian Salmon ($24++) – Sous vide salmon served with spiced pumpkin puree, baby spinach and pumpkin seed. Norwegian Salmon delivers a clean taste and texture that comes from a slow, natural growth process to ensure safety.
Braised Beef Short Rib ($28++) – 12-hour braised short rib with charred broccolini and curry mash. I am a beef person, I immediately fell in love with it at first bite. The beef was well-seasoned, tender, juicy and lovely with the sauce and curry mash.
Spring chicken ($24++) – Roast spring chicken, taro puree, roasted vegetables and red wine sauce. The bird is tender, juicy and flavorful worth returning for.
Strawberry & Basil Panna Cotta ($12++) – Basil panna cotta with strawberry compote. It is light and delicate, with just enough brightness.
