My recent trip to London over a weekend brought me to stay in Pullman London St Pancras. This trip was extremely short since I could only experience a night at this Accor Group of Hotel.
The reason for the pick was I will arrive and leave via EuroStar as I needed to be back at Lille to continue with my business trip. Hence, it made lots of sense to stay near St Pancras station. Among the handful of choices, Pullman London St Pancras stands out as it fits my budget in addition to the location.
Surroundings
Pullman London St Pancras is a stone throw from St Pancras station, home of Eurostar, and 2 other train station, King’s Cross and Euston. In addition, it is close to metro station King’s Cross with a total of 6 metro lines, namely, Circle, Piccadilly, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Victoria and Northern. The best part about this Metro station is that there is ramp and escalator which ease the hassle of lugging luggages. Many metro stations are served by flights of stairs which is extremely unfriendly for visitors with suitcases therefore such a design at King’s Cross is helpful.
It is next to the British Library and surrounded by a handful of places of interest such as The Regent Park, British Museum, Covent Garden and SOHO.
Lobby
Spacious lobby though not lavish when compared with 5-star hotels. The space was with oeangiso light and dark coloured theme design.
The area is occupied with lots of comfy sofa.
Check-in And Check-Out
Only a handful of check-in and out desks are available. Luckily at both my checking in and out, there were not a long queue.
Since it is London, English isn’t a barrier. The service crew will try to up sell instead of automatic upgrade the room. I was offered an upgrade to the next room grade at £50. It didn’t seems a lot at first, however on hindsight, I didn’t think it was worthwhile.
Room
After the upgrade, I got a Superior Room with a King size Bed. My original booking was for a Classic Room with a King Size bed via Prestigia.com at £147.27, checking in on 20 January 2018 and out on 21 January 2018.
I got a room at level 11. At the lift landing area, a full glass panel allowing guests to admire the beautiful architecture of the British Library.
Upon entering the room, my first impression was loving it. There is a small area with a Sofa bed. At this small cosy section, there was a coffee table and a television too.
After passing the corridor with the bathroom on my left, came to the main area with the King Size bed.
There was a welcome gift containing 2 Truffle on the bed. What a sweet gesture.
I counted a total of 5 Power points with the UK format are available.
A Mini Bar with Still and Sparkling Water, Beer, Juice and some snacks. I couldn’t find the price list for the Mini Bar item.
The usual complimentary tea, coffee and water were offered.
What I really appreciate was the internet phone offered by the hotel for guests to bring along when they are in London. This is really convenient for guests. I could make calls and also Google on-the-go without activating my own overseas data roaming.
Wardrobe size was decent with a number of hangars. A safe, disposable sandal, iron and ironing board are available.
Bathroom was huge in my opinion. There isn’t a bathtub however, there was a standing shower with rain shower and holding shower.
One of the rare hotel that provides a wide range of toiletries and amenties.
The view from my room though not scenic, I like the view of the dense building.
Food & Beverage
Pullman London St Pancras offers a restaurant and a bar.
Other Services
Laundry service is also offered
NAHMJ Verdict
I have been in search of the best hotel in terms of location and price in London at every visit. I think this round I found my ideal hotel. Closed to a metro served with escalator and ramp that ease transporting luggages and every aspect of the hotel met minimal expectations.
