Rookery @ Capital Tower is the second outlet after their first cafe-bar at Hong Leong Building which I visited when they first started. Both has numerous similarity though there are a handful of exclusive items at the Capital Tower outlet.
Instead of starting with the ambience, we dived into the food first. They offer various menu, there are Brunch Menu and Wraps and Rice Bowl that end at 3pm, we missed this since we were there in the evening for dinner. Next there are Mains, Soups & Salad and Desserts from 11.30am till late and lastly the Sharing Plate from 5pm until closing.
Starting from the Mains, Gambas Aglio Olio Spaghetti ($22++). Though most of the diners found the pasta to be al dente, personally, I find it a little on the soft side though. Prawn was fresh and pasta was tasty.
Next was the Miso Salmon ($26++) sat on zucchini pasta which I thought it was Trout as the texture was much smoother and oilier. Miso enhanced the flavour of the fillet.
Fork-tender Baby Back Ribs ($28++) was well-marinated with the thick robust sauce sticking on the meat tightly.
Coming to the desserts, there are 3 items on the menu. We had 2 of them. First is the Churros ($14++) with soft texture that is a little mushiness but lacking of crispiness. Sauce wasn’t chocolaty enough too.
Personally, I prefer the Rookery Signature Monster Cookie ($15++). Crispy chocolate and buttery cookies with creamy Vanilla Ice Cream was an indulgent.
The last dessert which we didn’t order was the Lemon Pannacotta with Crumble ($12++).
Finally, the Small Bites Menu. Among the dozen selection, we have the Beef Tarte ($14++), my favourite dish of the night. The rare beef was in a rich appetising sauce. And the egg provide a creamy texture to the dish.
Crispy and lightly chewy Baby Calamari ($18++) sat on Squid Ink Mayo charm the hearts of the diner of the night. Hence, don’t forget to order it.
Fried Chicken Aka “Har Cheong Gai” ($16++), a crowd-pleaser, is yet another amazing dish, great to pair along with the many selection of beer offered at Rookery @ Capital Tower.
Lastly was the Finger Ribs ($18++) similar to the Baby Back Ribs in the Mains.
Ambience of the cafe-bar is certainly causal. Like all bar, it is dark with pipe-in music. As patrons were mainly the executives, it wasn’t rowdy.
NAHMJ Verdict
We felt that Rookery @ Capital Tower is a good place for gathering and winding down with colleagues and friends over beer and food.
Go for the Baby Squid Calamari, Beef Tarte, Fried Chicken Aka “Har Cheong Gai” and Miso Salmon.
