At times, we would love to chillax at a quiet place but yet near enough to town. It would be even better if it is near a MRT station, or in other words, accessible by public transport. WAD Bistro located at Commonwealth Crescent perfectly fit to this requirement. In addition, finding a parking lot isn’t too challenging too as it is surrounded by carparks. In addition, if you are looking to make reservation, one could easily make the booking through Quandoo.com.
When I spotted WAD Bistro, it gave off a drinking vibes. Perhaps contributed mainly by the Tiger Beer sign. WAD is an acronym for Western Asian Delight as such expect a mixture of Western and Asian influenced fare.
Interior comprises black furniture. No frills. Everything were kept simple.
We kicked off with Softshell Crab ($10), a Chef recommendation. It was drizzled with a layer of sauce which we find it better off to be without. It is a shame that there was a hint of pungent seafood flavour in the crab though it was a meaty one.
Another Chef Recommendation we turned to was the WAD’s Style Pork Ribs ($22). Pork ribs were so tender till it melted in my mouth. The glaze was flavourful and what I like about it was the savoury and smokiness.
We went on to order another Chef Recommendation, the Curry Chicken Burger ($12). This certainly attracted our attention as curry was infused into the chicken cutlet. Such flavour was hardly available in other restaurants. The overall flavour does remind me of the Chicken wings my Grandma used to fry. She loved marinating the wings with some curry powder. It was a flavour of familiarity as such I love it.
Though there were only 2 selections of dessert, Deconstructed S’mores ($7) and Nutella Burger Bomb ($7) which I admit both weren’t interesting choices. Nonetheless, we opted for the former. The way it was served was cute. I am sure it will be popular with kids and family. Not only the Mickey Mouse-shaped pan attracted but the ingredients certainly has a charm with kids too, Marshmallow and Chocolate. Who could resist them? The toasted marshmallow melted and infused with the dark chocolate, overall was cloying sweet for me.
NAHMJ Verdict
Variety of food isn’t the most interesting and comprehensive at WAD Bistro, however, NAHMJ think it does complement well with beer. And at such quiet environment, it is a fabulous choice to chillax with friends.
