I heard a lot about Greyhound Cafe before Greyhound Cafe Singapore is at Paragon. Though they originated from Bangkok, I spotted them in Hong Kong too. A pity, I didn’t get to try them out. As such, when I knew that they set foot in Paragon, I was keen to try.
Interior was almost entirely black. Looking chic and hip, certainly attracts.
Browsing through the endless menu, excite me. Greyhound Cafe Singapore doesn’t only serve Thai cafe food, but also Western dishes. Some of them incorporated Thai ingredients and elements. I spotted many mouthwatering items.
Spaghetti with Thai Anchovy ($25) is one of Greyhound Cafe Signature item. Though it is a tomato based sauce which I usually avoid, I actually enjoyed it. Perhaps due to the Thai Anchovy and basil cum pepper that elevated the boring tomato sauce. However, it got quite salty towards the end.
Tub Tim Krob Greyhound Style ($9) is another recommended item on the menu. But I was disappointed with this. As the waterchestnut isn’t as crunchy as it should. In addition, it was cloying sweet for me.
At Greyhound Cafe Singapore, they offered as much drinks as they do for food. Some of the drinks sounded interesting. Of course, diners will find the highly popular Thai-styled drinks such as Lemongrass Drink ($8.50 – iced/$7.50 – hot), Thai Iced Coffee ($8.50) and Thai Iced Tea ($8.50). I got a intensed purple-coloured Poison Tea ($8). This tea is a blend of Butterfly Pea & Stevia tea. Indeed look and even tasted like poison. It was awfully bitter. Having it with honey would be a wiser choice. If you prefer to see the cameleon in action, opt for the Camelon Tea ($8). It is the posion tea with lime.
NAHMJ Verdict
One trip to Greyhound Cafe Singapore isn’t conclusive. Since there are so many food on the menu to try out before providing the final verdict. Nonetheless, for now, I have a good impression.
