Thai Milk Tea is certainly a popular choice of drink in Singapore. In Tanjong Pagar alone, there are 2 cafe or outlets specialising in this drink; Kanoom Thai Dessert Cafe and one at Tanjong Pagar MRT station. There are a few more a little further but still within walking distance. And now we welcome Chatuchak Thai Tea,an addition in late 2016, to Icon Village.
Unit 01-84 has changed owners selling various items quite a number of time and interestingly this is the only unit that has such phenomenon. Somehow, I can’t help but wish them good luck.
At Chatuchak Thai Tea, beside the fame Thai Milk Tea and Coffee, I spotted the Thai Yoghurt drink on the menu too. Not too sure if there is such an authentic Thai drink.
For food, there is the Chatuchak Egglet in six flavours and ice cream in five flavours.
I got an item that looks pretty on photo. The original egglet ($4) with chocolate chips and a scoop of coconut ice cream ($2.50) as add-on. The egglet wasn’t very fragrance, somehow I felt it wasn’t as eggy as most. And the chocolate chips was seriously a bad idea since it was lacking of chocolaty taste but only sweet. Coconut ice cream wasn’t the cream sort instead it has a sorbet-like texture. At the very least, coconut flavour was savoured.
Thai Milk Tea (Iced, regular – $3) was one of the 2 drinks I tried. It has a good balance of milk and tea. Tea scent was strong, however a bitterness hint existed. In addition, it was a little too sweet for my liking. Nonetheless, still acceptable.
Should one find Thai Milk Tea or Thai Green Tea too boring, go for the Thai Greentea Cocoa (Iced, Regular – $3.50). I could savour both the Thai Green Tea and Cocoa and it did complement each other. The cocoa accentuated the green tea flavour but masked the flora fragrance. I like the sweet level for this product.
NAHMJ Verdict
If you are at the area and craving for a Thai Milk Tea, Chatuchak Thai Tea is a good place to turn too. And since it offers some snack to fill the stomach, if needed.
