Chef Shen Tan is launching her RevoluShen Wave At Revolution Coffee. When I heard about it, I thought it is going to be exciting since Chef Shen will be having her permanent platform displaying her creativity.
Getting to Revolution Coffee isn’t the easiest. But it is worth heading down for Chef Shen’s RevoluShen Wave.
Since Revolution Coffee has been around for three years, some may know about it. But if you don’t, it is time to find out through the RevoluShen Wave at Revolution Coffee.
RevoluShen Wave At Revolution Coffee
For those who never like salad, try out Chef Shen’s creation, the Grilled Laksa Salad ($9.90). In it what make it special is the char grilled lettuce that caramelises the vegetable to release the sweetness and the unique laksa dressing. I am reminded of my fave curry vegetable while I was enjoying this dish.
Chef Shen started her F&B career with her fame Nasi Lemak at Maxwell Market. This same dish with rice steamed twice is also on RevoluShen Wave Menu. Diners could to have it with Crispy Fried Chicken ($4.90), Crispy Pork ($7.90), 5 Spice Pork Confit ($9.90), Beef Rendang ($9.90) or Chicken Rendang ($9.90).
The flavours are light with complexity and well balanced.
Shen’s Signature Pastas
In the RevoluShen Wave At Revolution Coffee, 3 Shen’s Signature Pasta are part of the menu. We tried 2 of them.
Buah Keluak Pasta ($19.90) is an acquired taste. Generous coat of Buah Keluak are on the pasta.
My preferred pasta is the Bak Chor Mee Pasta ($19.90). It is easily mistaken as the Mee Pok. Even the taste is similar to one.
Dessert
If you love her Mains and Nasi Lemak, wait till you try the Dessert. I love them more than her Savoury dishes. First is a locally infused flavour, the Pulot Hitam Pudding with Gula Melaka Butterscotch served with Coconut Ice Cream ($10). It looks like a sticky date pudding. The sweetness was perfect for me.
Shendol Delights ($10) consists of coconut pannacotta with gula melaka syrup topped with homemade Red Bean Ice Cream is also to die for.
Brunch Classics
Pancakes Gula Melaka and Bananas ($14) was on Revolution Coffee menu since the beginning. Chef Shen gave new life to this dish by increasing the thickness of the pancakes as such it is fluffier with more texture. I find it pretty eggy and it reminded me of the steamed cake my grandma used to make.
Coffee is as good too with medium body and acidity cum tea like flavour note. As always my choice is the Cappuccino.
NAHMJ Verdict
Overall, food was good and dessert was even better. It is totally worthwhile going for the RevoluShen Wave At Revolution Coffee despite the little inconvenience.
