Dallas Restaurant & Bar is one of the 13 F&B establishment perched at the Suntec City Sky Garden. This is their 2nd outlet. The first is at Boat Quay.
The glass house setting restaurant of Dallas Restaurant & Bar was looking elegant and posh. The tables were with table cloth and tableware were meticulously placed. The centre feature, the bar counter, was certainly eye-catching. With such an interior, we were expecting the food to cost a hole in our pocket, but our concern wasn’t valid. Instead we were astonished by how value for money and affordable the items were.
At Dallas, they offer both Mexican and Australian cuisines.
Bar Snacks
Since Dallas is a bar hence bar snacks are on the menu. They offered a total of 12 items on this category. We tried 2 of them. First the Snapper Fish Tacos ($17 for 3). I don’t usually choose fish when it comes to Tacos, instead usually either pork or beef, since by far no fish tacos proof to be taste worthy. Surprisingly, the ones at Dallas were amazing. Somehow the combination of the lightly batter fish with the pineapple chutney and cheese sauce was the winning combination.
Followed by the Salt And Pepper Calamari ($16). The version at Dallas Restaurant & Bar was chunky with less crispy batter. A pity, I felt that they used frozen squid instead of fresh ones.
Mains
We tried 3 out of the 11 Mains offered. Mains selection was comprehensive. Be it chicken, Mexican, pork, fish, chicken and pasta were found on the menu.
First were the 2 similiar Chicken dishes; the BBQ Chicken Parm ($24) and Avocado Chicken Parmigiana ($24). Both were with Pan-fried panko crusted chicken breast topped with melted mozzarella served with Dallas fries and Salad greens. The variation was in the ingredients buried under the melted cheese. The former was with avocado and pasta sauce while the latter consists of grilled bacon, smokey BBQ sauce and caramelised onions. We prefer the former as it was tastier; flavour was rich.
BBQ Barramundi ($30) served with shaved fennel, watercress and roasted garlic mayonnaise was the last item from the Mains we tried. A great choice for fish lovers.
Burgers and Sandwiches
In addition to Mains, there were 2 sandwiches and 3 burgers found on Dallas Restaurant & Bar Menu. We went for the tall Southern Burger ($23) consisting of 220g 100% Black Angus beef patty with cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce. We find the beef patty a little dry.
Oh ya, how could I miss to highlight the fries. The Dallas fries is extremely delectable that will leave you wanting for more.
Signature Dishes
We would highly recommend diners to order Dallas Signature Dishes, either the Meat Platter ($70 for 2 / $130 for 4) for sharing or the Prime Rib Steak ($40) for individual dinning.
On the Meat Platter were braised pork ribs (fiery), Australian lamb cutlets, Prime rib, Rotisserie chicken accompanied with mint jelly, mushroom sauce and black pepper sauce with side of garden salad and roasted vine ripe cherry tomato. We have the platter for 2 which we thought could feed more.
Leaving the best to the last, The Prime Rib Steak ($40) is my must order. On my next visit, I will dive straight into this 15 hours slow roasted beef. It was tender, succulent and certainly mouthwatering, leaving us relishing on it.
Dallas offers 4 sharing platters. For diners who love sharing could choose the Quesadillas Platter ($18 for 4pcs / $32 for 8pcs), Sliders platter ($18 for 3 / $32 for 6), The Dallas Platter ($28 for 2 / $48 for 4) or the Mexican Platter ($50 for 2 / $95 for 4)
Desserts
Our stomach space were filled however there is always room for desserts. Though Dallas Restaurant & Bar offered only 3 simple desserts, it was mouthwatering.
First was the Keylime Pie ($12). Squeeze the lime over the ultra sour pie for more kick. For the low sourish tolerance diners, try it at your own risk. But we love how it woke us up from our food coma.
Homemade Apple Pie ($12) was our least favourite. Filling was lightly cinnamon-flavoured, lightly sweet with crunchy apple but pastry was a little dry which can be combated by having it with the ice cream.
Lastly, the Warm Chocolate Brownie ($12), that was a little chewy, won the heart of all diners of the night, singing praises about it. Even the baker at the table gave 10 out of 10 for this humble looking dessert.
