Tap Craft Beer Bar has started a very fun initiatives; Tap Craft Beer Pairing with some food by selecting a vendor to partner with them each month. For every month, they will come up with a theme food for the Tap craft beer pairing. A pity the event at each month lasted only for a day. So if you missed it, you gonna miss it entirely.
Tap Craft Beer Pairing
If I heard the service crew correctly, the initiatives started in January 2016. And they have done pairing for cakes, tapas and cheese. And for the month of May, Tap Craft Beer Bar has decided to try out pairing the Craft Beer with freshly baked bread from Tiong Bahru Bakery.
Tap Craft Beer Bar has come up with 6 pairing. All the 6 pairings are at $22 NETT each.
We went for The Layered pairing, consisting of Black Market Brewing Co Rye IPA (7.5%) with the Original Kouign Amann.
The Rye IPA was pretty sweet and smooth to the palate. It is considerably an easy drink for non-beer drinker like myself. The sweetness from the beer complemented the sweet Original Kouign Amann. Though my dinning partner thought the bitterness of the beer was emitted when having it with the pastry. Nonetheless, we thought well of it.
The Bestselllers ($22) is a pairing of Deschutes Brewery (USA) Fresh Squeezed India Pale Ale (6.4%) with Tiong Bahru Bakery Signature Croissant.
We find the India Pale Ale (IPA) a little bitter when it was enjoyed alone. Nonetheless, it was considerably smooth to the palate. As a non-beer drinker like myself, I don’t prefer this. My friend who drink beer loves it. When it was consumed together with the buttery pastry, strangely, the bitterness from the IPA was turned into sweetness.
The other highly recommended pairing from the service crew was The Quirky. A pairing of Black Market Brewing Co Tradecraft Cherry Sour (3.8%, bottled) with Jambon Beurre Sandwich. We didn’t try this.
A tip for all to save some money on the event. For all early birds who booked through Peatix, will save a few bucks. For June 2016, Tap Craft Beer Bar is planning to pair Craft Beer with Pho. So start following them and keep a look out to avoid disappointment.
We love the innovative ideas of pairing beer with quirky food. Something which we never thought of. If you are keen, follow them on their Facebook page or Instagram account @tapsingapore so that you won’t missed out on the coming Tap Craft Beer Pairing events.
