Imakatsu Singapore, a Japanese Restaurant specialises in tonkatsu, pork cutlet has their first outlet at Star Vista and it has turned 1 last month. The second outlet has opened at Boat Quay. A friend suggested to have lunch at Imakatsu and I am gamed for it. Though I am not a huge fan for tonkatsu, I thought it might be a good choice.
I didn’t find it difficult to locate the restaurant but my friend has some challenges.
Interior is a modern Japanese theme. As usual, restaurants these days prefer the orange lightings to keep it cosy and warm, I suppose. Not a bad idea but not too good for food photo taking.
Like all Tonkatsu Restaurant, the Cabbage Salad with very fine shredded cabbage is always served right after the order. No different at Imakatsu. The salad dressing, Sesame dressing, is provided on all tables.
We decided to have a Cold Egg Udon and a Zen Premium Pork Loin Cutlet with Add on Curry as our Mains.
The Cold Egg Udon was a little salty, we felt. A consolation was the udon was really done well with a nice chewy, smooth texture.
The Zen Premium Pork Loin Cutlet was a thick and chunky but tender piece of meat with intermittent of fats insertion. In short, good ratio of fat versus meat.
Piyo Piyo Minced is an egg with a minced meat coating and a thin batter. If you enjoy runny yolk. This is a must have.
NAHMJ Verdict
Since Imakatsu is fame for its Tonkatsu, this is certainly a must. I would not miss its Piyo Piyo Minced either.
