With much love from @madamchewey, I was invited by her to join her at the J65 South East Asian Weekday Dinner Buffet at Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore. Don’t be confused with the Hotel Jen at Orchard Gateway. The Hotel Jen Tanglin is located near The Botanical Gardens.
The restaurant that hosts the South East Asian Weekday Dinner Buffet is J65. The name was inspired by Singapore dialing code. This all new dinning opens for breakfast and lunch beside the dinner buffet we had. An attractive point to note, Hotel Jen Tanglin Singapore offer net pricing at it’s F&B outlet. That’s a great news to us consumer, isn’t it?
At J65 South East Asian Weekday Dinner Buffet, an array of food was served. The entire buffet area consists of 7 stations. They are the ‘Live’ Station; Roast; South East Asian Food; Salad, Sushi and Sashimi Station, Seafood; Dessert Station and Coffee & Tea station with others.
Live Station
The ‘Live’ Station has always been my favourite station. Since they prepare the food only upon order is placed.
At the ‘Live’ station at J65 South East Asian Weekday Dinner Buffet serves both the Chicken Rice, Hong Kong style roast and Laksa.
6 different types of Laksa, namely the Lobster, Penang, Johor, Thai, Curry and Sarawak Laksa were available. We went only for the Sarawak Laksa as it would be too filling to eat all of them.
Roast Station
On the left of the ‘Live’ station, is the Roast Station. The first food item I spotted at this station was the humongous Baked Whole Salmon. I hardly see it being prepared as such.
Other roast items include the Pork Loin, Beef, Bone Lamb and some roast vegetables sides.
South East Asian Cooked Food Station
Coming to the usual cooked food station is a display of South East Asian food.
There are a handful of Chinese dishes.
Some Indian curry and biryani.
One of my favourite dish was the crispy baby squid.
Kueh Pie Tee and Ngoh Hiang were avialable as part of the selections too.
Salad, Sushi and Sashimi Station
Next was the triple S station; Salad, Sushi and Sashimi.
As an healthy option, sushi prepared with brown rice was among the selection. That was thoughtful of J65
Seafood Station
My other favourite station is the Seafood Station. There are a good varieties of Live Seafood.
You could find selection such as Prawns, Scallops, Mussels, Sri Lankan and Boston Lobster. I could believe that they are providing so much of seafood and that included the Lobster!! I am sure most diners would dive directly to this item right at the start. That was what we did!
Dessert Station
Last but not least, also my top choice, the Dessert Station. I almost wanted to start my J65 South East Asian Weekday Dinner Buffet with desserts.
There was a good mix of desserts, Western pastries and cakes, Nonya Kueh and Ice Cream. It was thoughtful of J65 to scoop the ice cream to contain a scoop each.
Others
At the J65 South East Asian Weekday Dinner Buffet, they provided 4 selections of cheese. A pity all the 4 were hard cheese which I don’t prefer. None of the selection was soft cheese.
3 different types of fruit juice to quench your thirst.
And one could end with a cup of coffee or tea or accompanied the drink with the dessert.
Price
The J65 South East Asian Weekday Dinner Buffet is priced at $58 net per person.
NAHMJ Verdict
There were so much of variety of food at the J65 South East Asian Weekday Dinner Buffet till we couldn’t manage to try each and every single dish. And it is priced at net price per person definitely it is value for money. Most importantly, diners doesn’t have to incur additional charges and no surprise when they see the bill.
