Da Luca Italian Restaurant is established at Goldhill Plaza. The kitchen is helmed by Chef Luca Pucciani who brings authentic Italian, Tuscany cuisine to diners. Before setting up his own restaurant, he was with some big names; Garibaldi and Gunther’s Restaurant.
I knew about Da Luca Italian Restaurant since I passed by the area on and off. Somehow I have never thought of trying it, till my Godmother suggested it. Luckily, she mentioned, otherwise would have missed out on a gem.
We were at the restaurant at about 6.30pm on a Monday evening, most tables weren’t occupied yet. But by 7pm, it was almost full house. In other word, either go early or make sure a reservation is made to avoid disappointment.
Interior was very much like a cottage in the village, probably beside the wood. The layout and decoration was like many homely Italian restaurant.
Menu was the typical Italian dishes except it doesn’t have any Pizza, I was pretty surprised.
Bread was served almost instantly after our order was placed. The good part was the bread was refillable.
We chose Fresh Mixed Salad with Mushroom, Corn and Cherry Tomato in Extra Virgin Oil ($11.90) as the starter. We thought it was with a good mix of vegetable. We enjoyed the salad.
Ravioli as always is my top favourite. I was glad we had the Chef’s Ravioli Stuffing With Sausages and Mushroom Sauce ($22.90). It was with a very rich and creamy sauce. I like it.
Initially I was skeptical as the stuffing was with sausages. It turned out to be tasty no doubt. But I would prefer the fillings to be with fresh marinated minced meat that tasted like sausages, perhaps.
This round, we ordered a Main which I don’t usually do so. We ordered the Grilled Lamb Choped with Spinach and Roasted Potato ($27.90). The Lamb Rib has a good portion of fats to meat. It was grilled to perfection. The spinach and roasted potato complemented the lamb well. Another enjoyable dish.
Ended the meal with a sweet note by sharing a Tiramisu ($10.90). Easily one of the best. Good balance between the cream, coffee, alcohol and sponge.
Cappuccino was of typical Italian coffee.
NAHMJ Verdict
NAHMJ thought well of the food served at Da Luca Italian Restaurant set in a cosy homely environment. The service crew though not all of them were friendly and warm but remain professional. Yes, I will certainly return as I like rich, creamy and strong tasting food. This is certainly for me.
