The Refinery - Al Fresco Seats

The Refinery Singapore – King George Ave, Jalan Besar, Singapore

The Refinery Singapore is along the same stretch of building with AEIOU Cafe, each occupying one end. Both has a theme matching to its surrounding. Using Petroleum Drums as its main decorating features.

At The Refinery Singapore, three menu were offerred; Dinner for Monday to Saturday, Lunch for Weekdays and Brunch for weekends. Both the Lunch and Brunch were somewhat similar with Brunch menu having more variety than the Lunch menu. Milkshakes was also found on the Brunch menu. Dinner was entirely different with skewers, starters, bowl and etc.

The Refinery - Interior

I popped by The Refinery Singapore on a Sunday. And Teriyaki Chicken Don was the only main I ordered from the Brunch menu since I was alone. It was a bowl consisting of Seasoned Japanese Rice on the bottom (which tasted more like plain white rice), topped with 48 Hours Marinated & Sous Vide Chicken Thigh (like the Chinese Braised Chicken), Creamy Corn Salad, Signature 72 Degree Onsen Tamago, Roasted Sesames. It isn’t a bowl of typical Japanese bowl but a little more like the Chinese Braised Meat. Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining here. It is a after all a comfort bowl of rice.

Other selections on the Brunch menu was Burger, Risotto, Waffle and a noodle. Pretty much a brunch affair with some local twist selection. There are some sides selection for sharing too, Salted Egg Onion Rings. bling bling I simply couldn’t take my eyes off this item from the menu since I love all things salted egg. More sharing items include Poutine, Cauliflower Fritters, Seaweed Truffle Fries and Refinery Wings.

As I was in the mood for the Over The Top Milkshake, knowing that The Refinery offered them was the main reason for dropping by to savour them. I chose the Chendol Mando. The Milkshake was with gula melaka, red bean, green jelly, coconut cream, vanilla gelato topped with ondeh ondeh, whipped cream, gula Melaka, mini chocolate covered coconut candy. A pity it doesn’t really taste like Chendol as I was expecting. Nonetheless was an enjoyable Vanilla Milkshake.

There were three other flavours of milkshake, Mr Nutella, Strawberry Orlang and Avocado Gau.

The Refinery - Cappuccino

I ended my meal with a Cappuccino too. A full body with medium acidity.

NAHMJ Verdict

I thought the food served at The Refinery, at least for Brunch was pretty comforting. It has much selection for solo diners. And of course if in group, that would be even better.
