Hashida Garo - At the Entrance

Hashida Garo Singapore – Mandarin Gallery, Orchard, Singapore

Hashida Garo is the second establishment after Hashida Sushi. Both located in the same building, Mandarin Gallery, on different floors. Both restaurants are on Japanese fare but with a different focus.

Hashida Garo - Dinning Area

At Hashida Garo, it seems the focus is on Japanese Sweets. It offers over 3 pages worth of desserts, easily about 30 odd varieties. I can’t wait to go back and try more.

Hashida Garo - Another View

The setting at Hasida Garo feels zen with the typical Japanese tatami and some Japanese porcelain. On the walls were some Contemporary Arts contributing to a modern feel, rather than traditional ambience.

Besides Japanese sweets, there are a handful of Set Meal too with selection of Unagi, Curry Seafood, Onigirazu, Saba Fish and Beef a few more which I couldn’t remember. Each set is served with Wagashi of the day (Sweets) and Handpicked Japanese Tea.

Hashida Garo - Buta Kakuni Set

We settled for Buta Kakuni Set, a bowl of braised pork with some sides in the same bowl. And it is accompanied with a bowl of rice, pickle, Miso soup, side vegetable and Chiwamushi.

Hashida Garo - Wagashi of the day (Sweets) and Handpicked Japanese Tea

After we finished our Mains, the Wagashi of the day (Sweets) and Handpicked Japanese Tea were served. The Wagashi of the day was Fu Manyju.

Hashida Garo - Fu Manyju

When unwrapped, you see a mochi like sweets. Bite into it and you will realise it was filled with white bean paste and lightly yuzu scented.

Hashida Garo - Chocolate Yokan

Chocolate Yokan like a jelly pudding was lightly chocolaty with silky smooth texture and there was a slight briny finishing.

Hashida Garo - Special Foie Gras Macaron

Special Foie Gras Macaron a” must try” indicated on the menu has the perfect macaron biscuit. Filling is briny with a hint of foie gras. I enjoyed it but my sister didn’t. I believe if you love the salted caramel, you would like this.

NAHMJ Verdict

Hashida Garo offers delicate, high quality Japanese sweets where it pleases all senses.
