Mom and I spotted Pho Tai back in late May (2015) when we visited Angelina Cafe for lunch. We were determined to try their food. After a little more than 3 months, as there were too many food we wanted to try, we finally found the time for some Vietnamese noodles at Pho Tai located at the basement 2 of Capitol Piazza.
Interior was mainly in white and turquoise wall with some dark brown shelves, coupled with cream cushy chairs and brown table tops and floor. To made the ambience a little more Vietnamese in feel, some Vietnamese paintings and figurines were place at strategic places of the restaurants.
Menu
Pho Tai menu isn’t attractive at all. There isn’t any pictures of the photo but purely words. To the extend of black and white.
It offers fresh spring rolls with prawns, beef or pork, salad and a not seen in other Vietnamese Restaurant in Singapore, the Steamed Rice Pancake Rolls as appetiser. Pho Tai serve the usual Noodle Soup and Dry Vermicelli. It has a Caramelized Pork Hot Pot and 2 desserts.
And a list of drinks that include Fruit Shakes, Special Vietnamese Drinks, soft drinks, Vietnames Coffee (Hot or Cold), Tea and Water.
On The Table
Pho Tai has kindly placed condiments which include Fish Sauce, Chilli Sauce and cut slice chilli on the table where diners occupied.
On the day, we didn’t order much as we have late breakfast. It was a shame that we missed out the Noodle Soup. I will be back to try.
Prawn Fresh Spring Roll
3 selection of Fresh Spring rolls, Prawn, Beef or Pork. Each at ($4.90). We chose Prawns.
As usual, light and fresh. But we find the skin of the wrap a little too thick.
Grilled Chicken Dry Vermicelli
The Grilled Chicken was amazingly flavourful. It was well marinated.
We certainly enjoyed every bite.
Banana Coconut Milk Tapioca Pearls
Banana, Coconut Milk, Tapioca Pearls and Gula Melaka-like with lots of sesame on top. These ingredients will never go wrong.
Simple but delish. We enjoyed our dessert.
Drinks – Red Bean Cendol with Coconut Milk & Vietnamese Ice Coffee with Milk
Mom went for Red Bean Cendol with Coconut Milk while I have the Vietnamese Ice Coffee with Milk.
The former tasted very much like our Cendol with stronger Coconut taste as Coconut cream was used. While the latter was typical Vietnamese Coffee.
Verdict
Food was awesome. I have fixed another appointment with my mom to go back and try
