Taiwanese Mix and Match Dessert In Singapore

Desserts is getting competitive in Singapore. Beside the Hong Kong Style and the usual Ice Cream and later Froyo, now we have Taiwanese Mix and Match Dessert in Singapore as well.

There are a number of Taiwan Mix and Match Dessert and I was in the mood of chasing them over the island, trying out how they fare.

Blackball is a renown Taiwanese Dessert brand. The key ingredient in Blackball desserts is the Grass Jelly in 4 forms; icy, warm, hot or cold. With this as the base, you could choose to add your favourite toppings from a choice of 19 selections. Beside the Grass Jelly as the base, you could have Wintermelon Shaved Ice or Beancurd Jelly.

We find that the taste of the various toppings were more or less similar. The ingredient was mainly sweet. It didn’t manage to complement each other in the best way.

We were pretty amazed with the Nine Fresh dessert. It was value for money and good. The taste of each ingredient was distinct and complimented each other well.

The left in the pic is the Black Sugar Ai-Yu Jelly with Mango pieces (a mango season special) and right is the Grass Jelly Special (on its regular menu).

Taiwanese Mix and Match Dessert - Meow Square Cafe - Mixed and Match Taro Ball Desserts

Meow Square Cafe is another cafe that offer the Taiwanese like Mix and Match Dessert. The highlight of this cafe is the Taro Ball.

The ingredients though limited, not as varied as both Blackball and Nine Fresh, it certainly is outstanding. The ingredients not only compliment well but bring out the best in each other.

Taiwanese Mix and Match Dessert - Like Pudding Beancurd

Like Pudding Beancurd isn’t a mix and match dessert but it is a Taiwanese dessert. There are five flavours of pudding; Milk, Egg Pudding, Matcha, Chocolate and Grass Jelly ($2 each). Only the Egg Pudding comes with and option of Caramel ($2.50). The rest of the pudding flavour with caramel, there is an option of adding toppings ($3). The topping are standard topping consisting of red bean (covered half the surface), with the remaining covered with some Taro, Pumpkin and Sweet Potato cube and brown sugar jelly.

We find the pudding lacking of flavours though it was smooth. The exception is the Matcha. The topping provided some different texture but it wasn’t outstanding. Pricing was reasonable though.
